Hidden Inside Noah’s Ark: A Special Look at the Problem of Time Within the Book of Genesis

The Hebrews based their calendar on the lunar cycle of 29.5 days in a month for a total of 354 days in a year.  The Egyptians, on the other hand, used a 365 days calendar based on the solar cycle.

This might cause problems when you are a Hebrew camping out in Egypt land.  How did the Israelites deal with this problem?

The story of the flood in Genesis has a secret message in it that I’d like to share with you.  It requires that you follow my mathematical directions.

Everyone has heard of Noah’s Ark.  Noah took his family and the creatures of the earth inside a large floating zoo to survive the flood that God sent to punish evil-doers.  The flood finally subsided after 371 days according to the details found here in the Bible.

Noah had three sons when he was 500 years old.  The flood began a hundred years later when he turned 600.  But, wait, there’s a riddle here! One of his sons, Shem, is only 98 at this time.  How can this be?   Shouldn’t Shem also be 100 years of age?

Let’s do the math:

100 x 354 = 35400 days

35400 + 371 = 35771

35771 / 365 = 98 (ignore the remainder)

What’s going on?   Shem’s age is being calculated into 365 days time.  In order to come up with the right answer a day has to be added for every six years in 354 days time.  Let’s redo the math to make this easier to see.

101 x 354 = 35754

35754 + 16 = 35770

35770 / 365 = 98

When in Egypt under Pharoah’s control, do as the Egyptians do and life will become much easier for all concerned!

This post inspired two new blogs on wordpress.com. You can read them at One Hell of a Flood! (onehellofaflood.wordpress.com) and 360 Days Calendar (360dayscalendar.wordpress.com). The 360 days calendar keeps uniform time over an entire year, decade, century, etc., through an ingenious trick.
